What can you expect from the sessions?
As a personal counsellor, I aim to help you explore the difficulties you are facing and to find a solution to your problems. The process is to enable you to understand what is actually happening in your life right now, find alternatives and assist you to make informed choices. All the counselling/psychotherapy sessions are fully confidential and individual to your requirements.
How long does Counselling/Psychotherapy take and how do I start?
There is no set length of time. I work in an open ended way so that our work can continue, at your request, sometimes for up to a year or more. Only you can tell when you are ready to finish and we will take time to work towards a good ending to your therapy and to celebrate the resolutions that you have attained.
We will meet for an initial exploratory session to discuss the issues that have brought you in and whether you feel that I can benefit you. This will be a full 50-minute assessment session. I will listen to your current problems, ask questions, for example, about your early life and growing up, relationships, work and your thoughts on what you might need from counselling. Whatever you decide at this stage, you are under no obligation to continue with counselling and you can be assured that confidentiality will be maintained.
